A shooting in Cecil County killed two people and injured two others Saturday morning, police said.

According to a release from Maryland State Police, troopers responded to the area of Chestnut Drive in Elkton around 6 a.m. for a report of a man lying in the roadway.

Investigators with the state police homicide unit responded to the scene to lead the investigation, the release says.

According to police, a suspected shooting occurred that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Tamir Rasheek Davis, of New Castle, Delaware, who was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital, and another individual who police said has not been identified.

Causes and manners of death for both victims are pending autopsy results, according to the release.

Police said Saturday that two other victims are receiving treatment at area hospitals and that their identities are being withheld, pending further investigation.

State police said the investigation is ongoing and that anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Maryland State Police North East Barrack at 410-996-7800.
