U.S. District Judge Brendan A. Hurson sentenced an Aberdeen man to 40 years in federal prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for sexually abusing a minor who he and his wife were caring for,  according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

Nicholas Bryson, 41, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. According to his plea agreement, Bryson and his wife, Heather Clark, 37, repeatedly sexually abused a young minor who was in their care from 2011 to 2013. The two also produced numerous sexually explicit videos and images of the abuse, according to the news release.

A federal search warrant found approximately 1,000 depictions of child pornography from various devices seized from the couple, the news release stated.

According to the news release, Clark previously pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and is facing 60 years in prison. She is awaiting sentencing on Sept. 4.

Bryson was ordered to pay $16,000 in restitution to his victim after he is released from prison and must register as a sex offender through the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
