An Aberdeen Police Department corporal was arrested Monday on a warrant charging him with second-degree rape following a sexual assault investigation in Cecil County.

The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Aberdeen Police’s administrative staff had made them aware of sexual assault allegations against Radovan Jovic, a six-year veteran of the municipal police department who was suspended in February due to the investigation.

Investigators believe the alleged sex acts took place on the 2000 block of West Creek Village apartments in Elkton, where court records list Jovic’s home address.

Jovic, 33, is now being held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center pending a Tuesday morning bail review. He did not have a defense attorney listed in court records.

Those with information on the case are asked to contact Cecil County Sgt. Michael Kalinsky at 410-996-5500 ext. 3322, by email at michael.kalinsky@cecilsheriffmd.gov, or anonymously contact the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 410-392-2180.
