McFaul Activity Center in Bel Air was the most visited polling place in Maryland during the early voting session, according to state Board of Elections data.
With 28,225 voters casting ballots at the activity center between Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, McFaul became just one of three polling stations in the state to eclipse 20,000 visitors. Prince George’s Bowie Gymnasium trailed with 26,196 early voters, followed by the Honeygo Community Center in Baltimore County which hosted 21,163 voters.

“McFaul has been the busiest in the state for a couple of elections now, as we don’t win the weekends but we win the weekdays,” said Stephanie Taylor, director of the Harford County Board of Elections. “We expected this to be a high turnout, so we assigned more judges to that location, more equipment, more supplies. We had six scanners and 12 poll books, which we’ve never had that much at that location.”
“We had lines out the door, and the longest wait they had was 15 minutes,” Taylor added.
In total, nearly 29% of Harford County’s 192,898 registered voters voted early at one of the county’s four polling locations. This was the fourth-highest turnout for early voting among Maryland’s counties, with Harford trailing only Talbot (32.8%), Calvert (33.7%) and Queen Anne’s (33.9%).
The second-busiest early voting location in Harford, the Jarrettsville Fire Hall, saw 10,977 voters, ahead of the Havre De Grace Activity Center (8,731 voters) and Edgewood Recreation and Activity Center (7,869 voters), according to state Board of Elections data.
Of Harford’s 64,081 registered Democrats, about 27%, or 17,319, voted early; and of the 80,972 registered Republicans, about 35%, or 28,565, cast ballots at early voting centers.
