Train traffic was temporarily paused while Aberdeen police responded to a CSX freight train that hit a Toyota Tuesday morning. Neither the car’s driver nor any members of the train crew were injured, police said in a news release.

Police believe the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, ignored the warnings that a train was coming at the intersection of Beards Hill Road Extended and North Philadelphia Boulevard, the release said. When police arrived at the scene shortly before 9 a.m., the Toyota had rear-end damage and was found about 30 feet from the tracks.

The department reminds the public in its crash notice to stop and wait for passing trains when crossing signals activate.

The train stopped in Havre de Grace after the crash, police said.
