A former Harford County elementary school music teacher was sentenced last month to six years in prison after the 28-year-old pleaded guilty to four child pornography possession charges.

Dominic Lafrancesca, 28, of Bel Air, will also have to register as a sex offender, according to court records.

Harford County Circuit Judge Kevin J. Mahoney sentenced Lafrancesca to 20 years of incarceration, suspended down to six years, on Jan. 22. The former educator will also be placed on five years of supervised probation upon his release.

His defense attorney, Timothy Cook, did not immediately return a request for comment on Tuesday.

Authorities arrested Lafrancesca last August after detectives received a tip regarding Lafrancesca’s suspicious internet activity and searched his residence. He admitted to downloading sexually explicit photos of children and sharing the photos online with other adults, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Lafrancesca had worked at George D. Lisby Elementary School in Aberdeen since 2022, according to Harford County Public Schools, which said Lafrancesca was immediately placed on administrative leave when he was charged.

He had also worked as a substitute at multiple elementary schools throughout Harford County, the school district said.
