A dryer fire caused $200,000 in damages to a Harford County home on Sunday night.
On Sunday around 9:50 p.m., the Aberdeen Fire Department responded to a fire at a home in the 2000 block of Park Beach Drive in Aberdeen.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal says that the home owner discovered a fire behind a dryer, which spread up the wall. When the homeowner attempted to use a portable fire extinguisher, it was found to be inoperable, officials said.
The homeowner proceeded to leave the residence to call 911.
As a result of the fire, the Maryland State Fire Marshal said that $150,000 was caused to the home, and about $50,000 worth of contents inside the home were destroyed.
The fire was ruled accidental, and the owner is self-assisting, officials said.
