Harford Community College announces the appointment of Michele Campagna as vice president for Student Success.

Campagna began serving in this role on Jan. 6, according to HCC.

Campagna earned a bachelor of arts in anthropology from New York University, a master of education in counseling from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a doctor of education in higher education from the University of Alabama, according to HCC. Prior to joining HCC, she served as the assistant vice president and dean for student success at SUNY Westchester Community College. While there, Campagna facilitated a reorganization to create the comprehensive Student Success area, which she led. She was responsible for student enrollment, retention and engagement; accessibility services; academic, career, and transfer advising; student support services and an educational opportunity program; a City University of New York Accelerated Study in Associate Programs replication program; and student support initiatives for Black, Hispanic and Latino men.

Campagna was also responsible for the management of several grants to increase student success rates, including a Title V Hispanic-Serving Institutions grant, according to HCC. During her time with SUNY WCC, she co-led its academic advising redesign core team, its adoption of directed self-placement and oversaw and implemented the introduction of a first-year seminar course and served as its SUNY Guided Pathways lead.

Campagna previously served as SUNY WCC’s assistant dean for learning initiatives and student success, according to HCC. In addition, she was the executive director for the Center for Advising and Student Transitions as well as the director for new student experience at Montclair State University in New Jersey.

Other positions she has held include assistant dean for undergraduate students at Seton Hall University, director of advising and counseling at Hudson County Community College and interim director for TRIO Student Support Services at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Campagna is a published author and has taught doctoral courses in community college leadership.

Harford Community College hosts Winter ArtsFest: A Sunday Afternoon of Music and Art

Harford Community College will be hosting Winter ArtsFest: A Sunday Afternoon of Music and Art in the college’s student center, Feb. 2.

The event will feature performances by the college’s music faculty; an exhibit of ceramics, digital art, painting, photographs and sculpture by Art + Design faculty and staff in the Chesapeake Gallery and a reception featuring cool drinks, tasty treats and hot jazz from, “After Hours,” the faculty jazz band, according to HCC.

Winter ArtsFest is part of the 2025 Annual Art + Design Faculty & Staff Exhibition that will be held Jan. 27 through Feb. 28 in the Chesapeake Gallery located in the Student Center, according to HCC. The exhibition showcases work by faculty and staff in the Art + Design department who are all active artists and designers.

There will be a closing reception for the exhibition on Feb. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the gallery, according to HCC.

Havre de Grace Maritime Museum holds call for artist for 3D topographical map table

The Environmental Center at the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum is searching for an artist to paint a 3D topographical map table.

This is a paid opportunity that should be completed by April 1, according to the museum. The application will remain open until an artist is selected.

Harford Community College holds hybrid board meeting to discuss contract authorization

The Harford Community College Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m.

This month’s meeting will include two action items: a contract authorization for Towson Sports Medicine and a contract authorization with Datatelligent.

Cecil College Lifelong Learning to host 13th annual Mind, Body and Spirit Festival

Cecil College Lifelong Learning will be hosting the 13th annual Mind, Body and Spirit Festival, Jan. 17-18.

The event will include massage, meditation, mindfulness, learning and relaxation, according to the college. It will also include presenters and vendors from all over the country to provide a fulfilling experience.

Attendees can visit vendors on all three floors as well as visit breakout sessions throughout the day on Saturday, according to the college.

Mind, Body and Spirit Festival will take place at Cecil College Elkton Station at 107 Railroad Avenue in Elkton, Jan. 17 from 6-9 p.m. and Jan. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
