Harford County Public Schools has announced the cancellation of all summer school sessions for this year in an email distributed to its mailing list Thursday evening.
Jillian Lader, manager of communications for the school system, cited the county budget as the reason why elementary and middle schools will have their summer sessions canceled, in addition to the credit recovery programs administered by high schools.
“As we work to develop a sustainable and responsible budget for the upcoming fiscal year, adjustments are being made to align resources with available funding. As part of these efforts, all summer school sessions for 2025 have been canceled,” Lader wrote.
The cancellation does not affect the Extended School Year program for students receiving special education services, Lader said. “That program will continue as planned.”
She advised those seeking more information about the budget for fiscal year 2026 to visit hcps.org/boe/Budget.aspx
