The Greene Turtle located at the Harford Mall in Bel Air is slated to close Wednesday, joining a number of other merchants that have recently departed the mall amid an ongoing redevelopment plan.

The restaurant, with multiple locations across Maryland as well as Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C., opened in the Harford Mall space in June 2015.

In honor of the Greene Turtle’s last day, a closing party, or “shellabration,” will be held at the location Wednesday, starting at 11 a.m.

A large portion of the parking lot for the Harford Mall is slated to be redeveloped into 249 apartments and a four-story parking garage. With the loss of parking, the total square footage of active retail space must be reduced since parking will no longer be adequate.

Project plans show more than 30,000 square feet of the mall will be “vacant at all times” which, among other factors, has prompted numerous stores such as Gamestop, Macy’s, For You Entertainment and others, to close recently.
