If you are looking to get flowers for Mother’s Day or start your own garden, the Bel Air Garden Mart is set for Friday and is likely the right place to start.

The garden mart will be open 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, in the Bel Air Armory, 37 N Main St. Admission to the event is free.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to get good plants for your garden, to provide host plants for the pollinators and enhance the beauty of your yard,” Elaine Millard, the vice chair of the Town of Bel Air’s Appearance and Beautification Committee that’s sponsoring the mart, said in a news release.

Annuals, perennials and native plants that support pollinators and garden-friendly insects will be available for purchase. Attendees can also chat with members of Harford County garden clubs in addition to Harford County Master Gardeners.

Some local garden clubs attending the event include Country Garden Club, Evergreen Garden Club, Friendship Garden Club and Joppatowne Garden Club.

There will also be activities for children run by the Edgewood library branch staff. For visitors that get hungry, there will be a food truck on site.

All sale proceeds will go towards supporting scholarships and charitable donations from the garden clubs.

“This is a total community service event,” Millard said.
