Baseball
Sparrows Point 5, Pikesville 0: Josh Mason struck out seven in 6 ⅔ one-hit innings. Brayden Wallace came on in relief to get the final out and complete the shutout. Brady Herl homered in the win, while Mason Fishpaugh had two hits and an RBI.
Kenwood 5, Franklin 0: The host Bluebirds took a 4-0 lead after two innings and shut out Franklin. Kyle Rineman went 6 ⅔ innings, gave up two hits, walked four and struck out nine for the win.
Key School 10, Chapelgate 0 (5 innings): Wyatt Dowton threw five innings and struck out eight and the host Obezags (6-8, 4-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland C Conference Black Division) beat the Yellow Jackets (1-3, 1-3). Leading hitters for Key were John Fisher (2-for-4) with a double, a home run and three RBIs, Sean Flynn (1-for-3) with two RBIs, and Alex Neenan (3-for-4) with an RBI
Reservoir 12, Wilde Lake 0: Tommy Futrell and Ben Tzucker combined efforts and the Gators shut out the Wildecats. Reservoir was led by Blake Smoot (3-for-3) with three stolen bases and two runs scored, Gavin Metrick (2-for-3) with a home run and four runs and Vincent Kula (2-for-4) with a double and four RBIs.
Long Reach 14, Hammond 2: The visiting Lightning beat the Bears. Long Reach scored five runs in the second inning and the sixth inning.
C. Milton Wright 10, Harford Tech 2: Landon Melnick went six innings, gave up two runs on one hit and struck out nine and the visiting Mustangs beat the Cobras. Zach Lane had the lone hit for Harford Tech.
Archbishop Spalding 8, John Carroll 1: Braeden Martin, Cruz Luna (home run) and Noah Vasey all tallied two RBIs for the Cavaliers (18-2). Brayden Robinson went six innings with six strikeouts and one hit allowed.
Broadneck 8, South River 3: Mike Swick led the Bruins (10-1) with two doubles for two RBIs. Avik Cherry, Nick Cicale, Nick Forman, Luke Smith and Aiden Casey all batted in a run each. Forman pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts, seven hits allowed and two walks allowed.
Arundel 4, North County 2: Rowland Thursby doubled and tripled for the Wildcats with an RBI to show for it. He also earned the save in the seventh with two strikeouts and no hits. Tahner McGriff claimed the win with seven strikeouts and one hit permitted over six innings.
Softball
Catonsville 7, Carver A&T 3: Kaia Gross and Lillie Ureno each had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Comets. Emily Meiller went 4-for-4 and scored two runs.
Towson 7, Perry Hall 1: The host Generals scored seven runs in the sixth inning to beat the Gators. Jelena Gardner worked seven innings, gave up one run on four hits and struck out eight for the win.
Broadneck 5, South River 0: The Bruins (9-2) were led by pitcher Rylan Crisafulli, who went seven innings and dealt 15 strikeouts while only permitting three hits. Aliceanna Weibley and Faith Palmer each brought in an RBI.
Northeast 18, Severn Run 1 (5 inn.): The Eagles (9-0) exploded for an 11-run second inning. Taylor Castle hit a triple and collected two RBIs, while Madison Burris, Jenna Burroughs and Mackenzie Weiland all drove in two runs each. Julianna LePhrohon pitched all five innings with seven strikeouts, one hit and one walk allowed.
Crofton 10, Old Mill 0 (5 inn.): The Cardinals were delivered two RBIs each by Jasmine Daubert, who batted a triple, too, as well as Alanna Yancey and Kortney Sarrach. Vera Russell tossed a no-hitter over five innings with eight strikeouts and no walks.
Chesapeake 10, Meade 0 (5 inn.): The Cougars amassed all runs over the first and second innings. Lindsay Cavey drove in three runs off a double. Amya Murphy batted in two runs. Lexi Laumann tripled twice and pitched all five innings for a no-hitter, dealing nine strikeouts.
Havre de Grace 15, Edgewood 5: The host Warriors (6-3) led 11-0 after two innings and beat the Rams. Lillia Dalton went five innings, gave up five runs on six hits, walked one and struck out six for the win. Havre de Grace was led by Bayleigh Carstetter (3-for-4) with a double, two singles, and a run scored and Taylor Martinovich (3-for-4) with two doubles, a single and two RBIs.
Girls lacrosse
Loch Raven 12, Edgewood 5: The host Raiders beat the Rams. Edgewood was led by Moezella Robinson (2 goals, 1 draw control), Mallory Hax (2 goals, 4 draw controls) and Emmerson Whittington (1 goal, 4 draw controls).
Marriotts Ridge 13, Centennial 5: The visiting Mustangs beat the Eagles. Marriotts Ridge was led by Katie Leader (5 goals), Jenna Cratin (3 goals, 2 assists), Allison Custer (2 goals) and Hayden Baumgartner (2 assists).
Howard 12, Mount Hebron 11: The visiting Lions beat the Vikings. Mount Hebron was led by Brynn Bartlett (5 goals, 2 assists) and Avery Graham (2 goals, 2 assists.)
Long Reach 12, Atholton 6: Bella Mooney had four goals to lead the host Raiders over the Lightning. Other top scorers for Long Reach included: Sam Legge (3 goals, 2 assists) and Delaney Daffan (3 goals, 4 assists). Jules Blair had three goals for Atholton.
St. Mary’s 8, Archbishop Spalding 7: Caroline Ewing led the Saints (8-4, 5-2 IAAM A) with four goals. St. Mary’s next travels to John Carroll on Tuesday.
Notre Dame Prep 8, John Carroll 7: The Blazers (6-4, 4-3 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) beat the Patriots (3-6, 3-3). John Carroll was led by James Madison-bound Grace Marchetti with a hat trick and Old Dominion-bound Molly Heimerl had two goals.
Boys lacrosse
Liberty 5, Winters Mill 3: Riley Wicklein (1 goal, 2 assists) scored to put the Lions ahead by two goals over the Falcons with 1:30 left to play. Leaders for Liberty included: Ethan Addison (2 goals, 2 assists), Jonah Rohrer (1 goal 1, assist), Ethan Carpenetti (1 goal) and Jamison Eder made 10 saves.
Annapolis Area Christian 15, Friends 4: The host Eagles (6-1, 3-0 MIAA C Conference) took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and beat the Quakers (0-4, 0-3). Maks Taishoff (5 goals), John Dixon (4 goals, 1 assist), Will VanVeelen (3 goals, 1 assist), Lucca Tomassoni (2 goals, 3 assists).
Marriotts Ridge 18, Centennial 6: The host Mustangs beat the Eagles. Marriotts Ridge was led by Josh Lindquist with six goals and Mason Machiran with two goals and four assists. Ben Carlson made 12 saves for Centennial.
Tennis
Arundel 6, Severn Run 3: Andrew Smith (No. 1 boys singles), Ryan Fortescue/Sawyer Custudio (No. 1 boys doubles), Garrett Kline/Cole Dunham (No. 2 boys doubles), Laynie Brown/Taylor Coats (No. 1 girls doubles), Shiraz Hayes/Faith Varahese (No. 2 girls doubles) and Rowan Bruck/Hunter Kline (mixed doubles) all earned wins for the Wildcats. Severn Run earned three wins from No. 2 boys singles’ Evan Schoonover, No. 1 girls singles Emily Erlewine and No. 2 girls singles Jasmine Escobar.
