Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Dec. 6.

Girls basketball

Patterson Mill 57, Perryville 40: The Huskies picked up a season-opening win with a balanced offense. Rylie Madsen led three players in double figures scoring with 17 points. Sophia Trinh was right behind her with 16 and freshman Sophia Marchena added 19.

Havre de Grace 47, Harford Tech 23: In the loss, Abby Downes led the Cobras with five points and eight rebounds. Delaney Klaus finished with five points and six rebounds and Brenna Olmstead had six rebounds as well.

Bel Air 28, Joppatowne 22: Carson Price keyed the Bobcats to a win in a defensive battle. Price totaled 11 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and four blocked shots. Gyte Derby also scored 11 points.

Chesapeake-AA 42, Northeast 19: Kiery Matkins (16 points, 4 steals) and Kendall Kotofski (11 points, 5 steals) led the visiting Cougars (0-1) over the Eagles (0-1). Tuesday, Chesapeake will travel to Friends.and Friday Northeast travels to North County.

South River 80, Southern-AA 13: Five Seahawks scored in double figures led by Karlee Hawkins with 14 points. She also added five assists and six steals. Key West chipped in 13 points, Rylee Adams finished with 12 and Skylar Woodyard and Reagan Ogle each scored 11. Woodyard also totaled eight steals and five assists. Ogle had seven steals and four assists.

Broadneck 46, Severna Park 40: Macie McNece scored a game-high 29 points to lead the visiting Bruins (2-0) over the  Falcons (0-1). McNece scored 14 of the team’s 16 points in the fourth quarter. She finished 10-for-13 from the free-throw line.

Westminster 54, Thomas Johnson 34: Maddy Gassman finished just shy of outscoring Thomas Johnson herself. She totaled 29 points in the season-opening win. Emma Jones added nine points and Xavia Burgee chipped in six.

Boys basketball

Mount Carmel 50, Severn 45: Gage Howard scored 14 points to lead the visiting Cougars (6-1) past the Admirals (0-2). Other top scorers for Mount Carmel included Tristen Wilson (8 points) and Ralph Rudusans (7 points).

Century 60, Pikesville 36: The Knights held just a one-point lead after the first quarter, but gradually pulled away as the game wore on, culminating in a 21-6 fourth-quarter run. Jackson Matz and Jean Marc Nkem each finished with 10 points and three rebounds for the Panthers.

Thomas Johnson 71, Westminster 43: In the loss, Tanek Zitta led the Owls with 14 points. Shae Greenwood chipped in 11 to go with seven rebounds, and Will Mollman finished with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Joppatowne 71  Bel Air 43: Phil Clark and Kishann Smith each scored 19 points to lead the host Mariners (2-0) over the Bobcats (0-1). Other top scorers for Joppatowne included: Braxton Jackson (15 points) and Dartanun Blakney (13 points). The Mariners led 33-21 in the first half.

St. Paul’s 59, SEED 46: The host Crusaders (3-3) beat the Sabers (0-1). Both teams play host on Saturday. St. Paul’s hosts New Town and SEED hosts Archbishop Curley.
