Girls basketball
Mount Carmel 68, Mercy 56: Despite the loss, Milan Brown finished with 48 points for Mercy. She surpassed Rosemary Kosiorek to become the program’s all-time leading scorer. Brown currently sits with 1,967 points.
Franklin 45, Loch Raven 43: Alexis Gamble made the game-winning 3-pointer to lift the visiting Indians over the Raiders. Franklin has won two of its past three games. On Friday the Indians host Kenwood and Loch Raven travels to Parkville.
Western Tech 56, Carver A&T 49: The host Wolverines beat the Wildcats. On Thursday, Western Tech travels to Lake Clifton. Friday Carver A&T hosts Chesapeake-BC.
Westminster 46, Manchester Valley 37: The Owls picked up the win thanks in part to a balanced offense. Maddy Gassman led with 14 points. Brinley Noah was right behind her with 13 and Xaviah Burgee added 11. Taylor Fique led Manchester Valley with 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
Century 40, Marriotts Ridge 17: The host Knights beat the Mustangs. Marriotts Ridge’s Lamees Bazzi scored eight points.
North Harford 63, C. Milton Wright 28: Amelia Hartlaub scored 20 points and Lauren Nicholson posted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Hawks. Gabby Stuchinski chipped in eight points and Peyton Dawson grabbed 11 rebounds.
Oakland Mills 49, Mt. Hebron 32: The Scorpions (12-3, 7-0 Summit Division) won their 11th straight county game and maintained first place in the division. Chloe Grenway led the way with 15 points, connecting on five 3-pointers. Adey Alexander also chipped in 10 points. For Mt. Hebron (7-6, 4-3 Summit), Michelle Nzelibe had 13 points, while Pearl Prasartkarnka added 12.
Glenelg 39, Hammond 36: The Gladiators (7-7, 3-4 Summit Division) avenged an earlier loss to the Golden Bears. Jordan Henggeler led the charge with 10 points, while both Skyler Mitchner and MJ Dabiri had nine. For Hammond (7-7, 2-4 Summit Division), Sara Yarnell had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Howard 81, Long Reach 32: The Lions (11-3, 5-1 Sierra Division) caught fire with a season-high offensive output. Kelsey Wimmer spearheaded the group with 18 points, while Riley Watson added 16. Eleven different Howard players scored in the win. For Long Reach (5-9, 1-5 Sierra), Madison Dicks finished with a game-high 24 points.
River Hill 48, Atholton 46: The Hawks (10-3, 5-0 Sierra Division) maintained first place in the division with the close win. Dylan Watson scored a game-high 19 points and moved into the 1000-point club as Olivia Creighton added 11 points. For Atholton (6-8, 1-5 Sierra), Taylor Conway finished with 13 points.
Wilde Lake 52, Centennial 40, OT: The Wildecats (6-7, 2-4 Sierra Division) outlasted the Eagles in a divisional battle. Maggie Shidle scored a game-high 19 points to lead the way while Trinity Chappell scored 10. For Centennial (6-9, 3-3 Sierra), Abby Porter scored a team-high 15 points.
Boys basketball
Hereford 50, Towson 40: The Bulls rallied from being down seven at halftime. They scored 37 second-half points, including going 12-for-12 from the foul line. Sam Nicholson and Joe Daw each hit clutch 3-pointers for the Bulls, who have won five of their last six games. Seven Wheeler led Towson with seven points.
Franklin 60, Loch Raven 55: Jeremiah Askew scored 19 points to lead the host Indians (12-3) over the Raiders. Franklin scoring leaders also included: Reggie Asoluka (17 points) and Khari Gregg (12 points).
Reservoir 61, Guilford Park 58: Dorian Yeadon scored a game-high 17 points, but the host Panthers fell to the Gators. Reservoir had three double-digit scorers: Fairleigh Dickinson University commit William Snoots (13 points), Channing Wade (12 points) and Bryan Reyes (11 points). Freshman Shawn DuPont had 13 points for Guilford Park.
Spalding 68, John Carroll 59: The Cavaliers (20-5, 9-2 BCL) move to the top of the Baltimore Catholic League by a half-point behind a double-figure performance from four players: TJ Moultrie (16 points), Elijah Barrett (15 points), Braxton Bogard (15 points) and Moe Lonergan (11 points).
Severn 64, St. Mary’s 54: The Admirals beat their rivals for the second time in two weeks thanks to double-digit scoring efforts from DJ Lee (21 points), Daniel Growney (13 points), Jayden Thomas (12 points) and Sean Harvey (11 points). Ben Hilburn added seven. For St. Mary’s, James DiBitetto netted 19 points. Gavin Johnson scored 13 points, as did Tyler Tillman.
Mt. Hebron 70, Oakland Mills 53: The Vikings (12-1, 7-0 Summit Division) remained Howard County’s hottest team with a 12th straight win. Kenny Akinlosotu was dominant in the post with 23 points, while Cole Willey chipped in 17.
Atholton 59, River Hill 55: The Raiders (9-5, 3-3 Sierra Division) won their fourth straight game and swept the season series with the Hawks. Cam Lyons led the charge with 20 points, half of which came in the fourth quarter. Isaiah Johnson added nine points. For River Hill (5-10, 1-6 Sierra), Justin Bishop finished with a team-high 18 points.
Howard 75, Long Reach 68: The Lions (11-4, 5-1 Sierra Division) maintained first place in the division with the win. It was a well-balanced effort as all five starters finished in double figures. Alex Reeb (17 points), Griff Garner (17) and Josh Ademiju (17) led the way, while Joe Hill (14) and Jamie Del Rosso-Freeman (10) also contributed. For Long Reach (3-10, 1-5 Sierra), Daniel Best scored a team-high 21 points. Seth Rosenfeld (13), Josh Hurd (10) and Xavier Weston (10) also finished in double figures.
Hammond 73, Glenelg 63: The Golden Bears (4-10, 2-5 Summit Division) avenged an earlier season loss to the Gladiators in a well-balanced effort with four double-digit scorers. For Glenelg (7-7, 4-3 Summit), Ty Jenkins finished with 18 points, while Steven Mbuyamba added 17. Siyi Jolayemi also chipped in 11.
Wrestling
Old Mill 53, Southern 21: Logan Johnson (120), Trey Martini (157), Dominick Hurley (175), Noel Norman-Williams (190) and Austyn Bunn (285) all collected pins for the Patriots. Keon Gavin (126) and Khi Church (132) both had tech falls.
Old Mill 57, Glen Burnie 17: Brandon Womack (113), Logan Johnson (120), Keon Gavin (126), Dominick Hurley (175) and Noel Norman-Williams (190) had pins for the Patriots (24-7). Khi Church (132) had a tech fall.
Chesapeake 58, Broadneck 12: Quin Greenstreet (106), Phillip Ramsey (157) and Jonas Dotson (285) all had pins for Chesapeake (31-0). Ethan Mills won by tech fall for Chesapeake at 144. Linx Lawless pinned at 165 for Broadneck.
