Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Jan. 17.
Girls basketball
South River 41, Severna Park 22: Raegan Ogle (17 points, 10 steals, 7 rebounds) and Kiera West (12 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals) led the visiting Seahawks (5-3) over the Falcons (4-5). Erin Hussey scored six points for Severna Park.
Severn Run 56, Arundel 34: Jordan Acree scored a game-high 29 points to lead the visiting Wolves past the Wildcats. Severn Run trailed by four points before going on an 18-4 run to start the second half and pull ahead.
Carver A&T 43, Patapsco 19: The host Bayhawks (5-4) beat the Patriots (1-8). Carver A&T has won three of its past five games. Wednesday the Bayhawks travel to Dulaney and Patapsco hosts New Town.
Mount de Sales 51, Gerstell 24: Shelby Lewis (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Mackenzie Conley (15 points) to lead the visiting Sailors (12-4, 3-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) over the Falcons (3-9, 1-2). Mount de Sales bounced back from Tuesday’s 43-32 loss to St. Timothy’s.
Boys basketball
Centennial 55, River Hill 51: The Eagles (8-1, 2-1 Sierra Division) won their sixth straight game and avenged an earlier season loss to the Hawks. Josh Frazier led the way with 25 points, while Colin Smith had 13. For River Hill (3-6, 1-4 Sierra), Mason Rooths had 16 points, while Justin Bishop had 14.
