Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Girls basketball

South River 80, North County 22: Skylar Woodyard had a breakout 20-point afternoon for the Seahawks (8-6, 5-0 county), aided by 15 points from Kiera West. Raegan Ogle added eight points and eight assists. For the Knights, India Williams scored 10 points.

Broadneck 51, Chesapeake-AA 35: Macie McNece scored a game-high 22 points and Jillian Gross had 12 points to lead the Bruins past the Cougars (11-3). Kiery Matkins and Carlie Shoemaker each had 10 points and Kendall Kotofski had eight points and 8 rebounds for Chesapeake.

Dulaney 61, Carver A&T 24: The host Lions beat the Wildcats. Thursday Carver A&T hosts Perry Hall. Friday Dulaney hosts Eastern Tech.

Harford Tech 28, Joppatowne 21: Freshman Abby Downes had five points, 15 rebounds and two steals to lead the visiting Cobras (2-9) over the Mariners (2-7). Other top performers for Harford Tech included: Riley Mullenax (7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals), Delaney Klaus (7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block) and Ciara Smith (5 points, 3 steals, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 block).

Fallston 57, Havre de Grace 37: The Cougars (8-3) beat the host Warriors (5-6). Fallston was led by Natalie Wirth (14 points, 10 rebounds), Jadin Woods (10 points), Brooke Bolesta (10 points), Sarah Gnagey (9 points, 11 rebounds) and Maddie Morehead (11 rebounds).

Rising Sun 50, C. Milton Wright 44: In the loss, Sam Wolfkill led the Mustangs with 16 points. Carley Jehnert was right behind her with 15 points.

John Carroll 52, Severn 42: Kendall Austin and Valerie Waugh each scored 10 points, but the host Admirals 11-4, 3-2 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) fell to the Patriots (11-2, 4-2). Friday John Carroll travels to Notre Dame Prep and Severn travels to Gerstell.

Boys basketball

Towson 72, Parkville 55: Three Generals scored in double figures led by Devaughn West with 20 points. Seven Wheeler followed with 14 and Jeremiah Harris chipped in 10. Korey Collins finished with nine points and 11 rebounds. Wheeler also added five steals and three assists.

Eastern Tech 82, Pikesville 66: Matt Foley poured in 27 point while collecting four steals to lead the Mavericks over the Panthers. Four other Mavericks scored in double figures. Prabhnoor Singh scored 15 points, followedby Adrian Pefianco with 14, Jericho Wondeye with 13 and Isaiah Southall with 11. Wondeye also handed out five assists and Singh grabbed five rebounds.

Glenelg Country 79, Loyola Blakefield 43: Pat Curtain scored a game-high 33 points and Jalen Baker had 15 points to lead the visiting Dragons (13-4, 8-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) over the Dons (7-8, 3-7). The win was the third straight. Terry Brooks had 17 points for Loyola.

Mount Carmel 47, Mount St. Joseph 37: Rod Scott scored 16 points and Gage Howard had nine points to lead the Cougars (20-3, 7-1 MIAA A Conference) over the host Gaels (15-6, 7-4). The victory was the eighth straight.

Wrestling

Eastern Tech goes 1-1: The Mavericks (2-7) fell to Franklin, 45-28, and beat Kenwood, 48-36.
