Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Girls soccer

Severn 1, Bryn Mawr 1: The visiting Admirals (6-2-2, 3-2-1 IAAM B Conference) and Mawrtians (2-5-2, 1-3-1) played to a draw. Shelby Smith gave Bryn Mawr a 1-0 lead in the first half before Severn’s Alaina Subong tied the score assisted by Suzy Urban. Friday, the Admirals host Severna Park.

Boys soccer

Poly 2, City 1, OT: Maximus Rudham scored the game-winner with 30 seconds left in overtime to lift the visiting Engineers over the Knights. Poly trailed 1-0 before Christian Raysor scored the tying goal assisted by Jack Harburger with 11 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Field hockey

Manchester Valley 1, Francis Scott Key 0: First place in Carroll County was up for grabs and the Eagles and Mavericks went into the fourth quarter scoreless. Finally, with 2:05 left, Sophie Baer fed Amanda Herrold for a goal that broke the tie and kept the Mavericks undefeated. FSK goalie Maddy Dehoff made 21 saves including one on a penalty stroke.

Westminster 4, Century 2: Abby Kerner scored twice, and Vivian Dunn and Reese Scholkoff each had a goal and the host Owls beat the Knights. Bella Garcia and Aubery Geist each scored a goal for Century.

Patterson Mill 3, Harford Tech 0: Emily Tapey had a goal and assist to lead the visiting Huskies over the Cobras. Lucy Bates and Payton Chase also scored. Maddie Tunney added an assist. In goal, Aubrey Jenkins made 16 saves.

John Carroll 4, Roland Park 0: The host Patriots (8-4, 3-1 IAAM B Conference) shut out the Reds (1-8, 0-5). John Carroll got goals from Claire Moffitt, Annie Minoglio, Maggie Scheidhauer, and Leah Foltyn. Monday, the Patriots host McDonogh.

Severn 2, Mercy 2, OT: The host Admirals (6-3-2, 2-2-1 Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference) played to a stalemate with the Magic (2-4-3, 1-3-2). Addison Lamb and Sadie Elon each scored and Maddie Ripley had an assist for Severn.

St. Mary’s 3, McDonogh 1: Finlay Davidson and Natalie McLaughlin each had a goal and an assist to lead the visiting Saints (6-3-1, 5-0 IAAM B Conference) over the Eagles (7-4-1, 1-3-1). The win was the third straight.

River Hill 2, Wilde Lake 0: The host Hawks shut out the Wildecats. Katelyn Sauritch and Carolyn Dzubak each scored, and Maya Chan and Sophie Chudnovsky each had an assist. River Hill led 1-0 in the first half.

Centennial 2, Atholton 0: Claire Whipkey and Annabel Arrington scored in the Eagles’ win. Caroline Cudzilo assisted both goals for Centennial (9-2, 4-1 Sierra Division) in the win as Jane Baldy made eight saves in the shutout.

Bryn Mawr 8, St. Paul’s 0: Penelope Kousouris scored three goals and Addie Polakoff had one goal and three assists to lead the host Mawrtians (9-1, 3-1 IAAM A Conference) over the Gators (3-7, 0-4).  The victory was the fifth straight and eighth shutout.

Girls volleyball

South River 3, Chesapeake-AA 0: Karlee Hawkins had 11 kills and Hannah Takacs went 19-20  serving with four aces and  three kills to lead the Seahawks over the Cougars. South River won, 25-5, 25-18, 25-19.

Boys volleyball

Patterson Mill 3, Havre de Grace 1: The Huskies beat the host Warriors. Patterson Mill won, 22-25, 25-8, 25-16, 25-12. The Huskies were led by Dylan Lewis (12 kills, 8 aces), Titus Lyttle (16 assists, 11 aces), and Blaise Jones (9 kills, 2 aces).
