Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Monday, Sept. 23.

Field hockey

Francis Scott Key 3, Linganore 2: The Eagles spotted Linganore two goals, but rallied for the win. Josie Darago scored on a corner to end the third quarter and Carley Topper scored twice in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter. Jena Stambaugh assisted Topper on the game-winner. Maddy Dehoff made eight saves in goal.

Fallston 8, Harford Tech 0: Layla King tallied two goals to lead a balanced Cougars offense. Ava Meyer, Sarah Gent, Lilly Burns, Olivia Parker, Olivia Fagan and Campbell Foxx all added goals.

John Carroll 1, Saints Peter and Paul 0: Sara Shorts scored in the first quarter and the Patriots’ defense made it hold up.

North Harford 1, Patterson Mill 0: Lola Minor converted an assist from Lily Franz for the game’s only goal as the Hawks edged the Huskies.

Boys soccer

Bel Air 2, Huntingtown 1: Christian Sherman and Jackson Kolbe scored for the Bobcats with Isaiah Traynham adding an assist.

Edgewood 1, Elkton 0: Ten minutes into the first half, Nayo Matthews sent a corner kick into the box which Franck Fopa headed into the goal. The Rams’ defense made it hold up as they claimed the win. .

Glen Burnie 7, Ben Franklin 2: Jordan Granados and Nick Bezek each scored two goals to lead the Gophers to the big win. Oscar Silva added a goal and two assists, while Adolfo Florian and Tyler Helms each finished with a goal and one assist. Mynor Urrutia and Michael Akintunde also had assists.

Liberty 6, Winters Mill 0: Lucas Britos netted a hat trick to lead the Lions as they shut out the Falcons. Zach Bauer, Austen Veach and Nate Frey also had goals in the win. Frey and Connor Clapper had assists. In goal Arjun Singh (4 saves) and Jaxon Vanderhoof (2) combined for the shutout. Matthew Mawhinney made 12 saves for Winters Mill.

Girls soccer

Atholton 2, Centennial 2: Ioana Kostova and Kaila Ibrahim scored the Raiders goals, while Chloe Coughlan and Miley Barrett delivered the assists for Atholton.

Marriotts Ridge 8, Hammond 0: The Mustangs (3-2) netted a season-high in goals with five different goal scorers. Grace Kang netted a hat trick while Morayo Omitowoju scored twice. Shania Chan, Marleigh Swidersky and Kate Riismandel each added goals.

Volleyball

Dunlaney 3, Century 0: The Lions topped the Knights, 25-7, 25-20, 25-8. Gabby Zajaczkowski led Century with eight kills. Stephanie Villanueva added 10 assists and Corinne Zepp led the defense with nine kills.

Old Mill 3, Crofton 0: The Patriots swept the Cardinals 25-21, 25-12, 25-15. For Crofton, Jordan Alexander led the way with nine kills. Olivia Pritchard had nine digs and five assists.

Golf

Catonsville 178, Eastern Tech 195: Despite the loss, Matt Cherundolo led the Mavericks with a 44. Eli Irwin and Anthony Piazza each added 50s.

Manchester Valley 164, Liberty 173: The Mavericks beat the Lions at Oakmont Green. Jackson Streett paced Manchester Valley with a 39. Gavin Reid backed him with a 41. Liberty’s Ben Davidson was medalist, shooting a 1-under par 35.
