A house fire in Aberdeen injured a first responder and an occupant of the home Thursday night, according to the Maryland Office of the Fire Marshall.

Around 10:30 p.m., 35 firefighters primarily from the Abingdon Fire Company responded to the blaze at a two-story, single-family residence in the 1300 block Tralee Circle in Harford County.

The fire started in the basement bedroom and was contained in about 15 minutes, officials reported.

One firefighter and a person inside the home sustained minor injuries and refused transport to an area hospital. Two dogs died as a result of the fire, according to the Maryland Office of the Fire Marshall.

The fire caused extensive heat, smoke, soot and water damage throughout the remainder of the basement. There was moderate smoke and soot damage throughout the upper floors, officials said.

The occupants are displaced and are being assisted by friends and family. The Fire Marshall estimated damage at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
