A Sunday morning stabbing attack in Abingdon resulted in five people being injured, including two children — a 2-year-old and 8-month-old.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Raja Zahid Maqsood, 32, charging him with attempted first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault related to the attack.

Deputies responded to a home in the 400 block of Deerhill Circle in Abingdon at 7:15 a.m., Sunday following a report of a stabbing. Two victims were located outside and three inside the residence, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Police said three of the victims sustained “slashing injuries” and two sustained “other injuries.” Maryland State Police Aviation flew the slashing victims to a trauma center and the other victims were transported to an area hospital, according to the release.

The victims are all in stable condition and were identified as Zeenat Jahan, 19; Rehana Rashid, 66; Sana Zahid, 36; and two unnamed children, ages 8 months and 2 years.

Early in the investigation, police identified Maqsood as a suspect. Police believe he has family ties to the home’s occupants and that his motive was “domestic in nature,” according to the release.

Police said Maqsood was observed after the attack on surveillance footage entering Walmart and Target stores in Abingdon where he changed clothes before fleeing the area.

Police said the weapons used in the attack have been recovered, but Maqsood is still considered armed and dangerous. On Sunday, police said Maqsood has access to a black Hyundai but are unsure if he is on foot, or using the vehicle.

Maqsood has ties to the Abingdon area as well as other states and countries, the release said. Anyone with information about Maqsood’s whereabouts can call Det. Golden with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division at 443-409-3154.
