A 28-year-old man is dead after being struck by a train in Aberdeen Wednesday evening.

According to a news release from the Aberdeen Police Department, the man was hit by a CSX freight train while he was on the tracks near the intersection of Harford and Market streets.

Police identified the man as Philip Mantik Jr., 28, of Aberdeen. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation with the assistance of CSX transportation and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Aberdeen Police Department at 410-272-2121.
