MacGregor’s Restaurant will be featured on Gordon Ramsay’s new show “Secret Service,” according to a social media post by owner Stephanie Jean Golumbek.
Dozens swarmed streets near the Havre de Grace restaurant in mid-March, hoping to get a peek at the famous chef during filming.
MacGregor’s Restaurant, at 331 Saint John St., reopened March 14 following the taping. The restaurant had been renovated to include new high-top tables and booths and a revamped bar lit up by banker’s lamps and accented with black-and-white photos of historic Havre de Grace decorated the walls, adding a local touch to the renovations.
City officials and longtime customers ordered from an updated menu crafted by Ramsay with dishes such as salmon BLT, tuna tartare, crab linguine, flounder Milanese, halibut cheeks, and a soft-shell crab sandwich. Golumbek said at the time that the restaurant would rely more on local watermen for its seafood and described the dishes as “a little more upscale” after Ramsay’s visit.
“Secret Service,” Ramsay’s new show, involves him going undercover to investigate the food handling practices at various restaurants around the country, potentially saving struggling ones. The chef uses insiders and collects surveillance footage as evidence, exposing each restaurant’s flaws.
Ramsay is known for “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Master Chef” and “Kitchen Nightmares.”
In February 2020, Ramsay and his film crew spent a week in Ellicott City in Howard County elocating and upgrading the Little Market Cafe; Jaxon Edwin, a barbershop, coffee bar and game room; and a merger of the Phoenix Emporium and Ellicott Mills Brewing Company, now called Phoenix Upper Main for a TV special called “24 Hours to Hell and Back.” The show, a two-hour special, aired in May 2020 on FOX.
The first episode of “Secret Service” is set to premiere on May 21 on FOX and will available on Hulu the following day.
