Aberdeen Police is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m., Thursday at the corner of Washington and Dorsey streets.
According to a police news release, officers responded to check on the well-being of a person reported to be lying in the middle of the road. Upon arrival, they discovered Travis Davis, 37, with apparent gunshot wounds and began performing life-saving measures. Their efforts were unsuccessful. Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and pronounced him dead.
Detectives from Aberdeen’s Criminal Investigation Division arrived to assume control of the scene and investigation. No suspects have been identified at this time, according to Capt. William Reiber, public information officer with Aberdeen Police.
