Harford school officials announced Tuesday that plans had changed for reopening Joppatowne High School following a three-day closure to allow students, staff and the community time to heal after a fatal shooting at the school Friday.

All students had been slated to return to school Thursday, but school officials said “discussion among school staff,” led to a decision to have only students in grades 10 and 12 return Thursday, according to the school system’s website.

On Friday, all students will return to school. On both days, students will be dismissed three hours early.

School hours and student attendance will be back to normal Monday, Sept. 16.

The closure came after 15-year-old Warren Grant, of Edgewood, was shot and killed Friday, inside the school.

Jaylen Prince, 16, of Edgewood, is charged as an adult in Grant’s death and has been denied bail.

Joppatowne High School was one of five Harford public schools to be closed. Nearby Magnolia Elementary, Magnolia Middle, Joppatowne Elementary and Riverside Elementary schools were all closed Monday. They reopened Tuesday.
