Each week throughout the season, The Aegis will select players of the week in each spring sport. The public will then have the opportunity to vote which of the individual sport selections will earn the honor of overall Harford County Player of the Week. Voting will run through the end of the day Wednesday and readers can vote once per hour.
Here are the Athletes of the Week for April 21-27.
Boys lacrosse
Jaden Riley, Fallston
Riley tallied seven goals and two assists last week across a pair of dominant wins for the Cougars, a 17-3 victory over North Harford and a 12-4 win over C. Milton Wright.
Girls lacrosse
Paige Feick, Bel Air
Including four goals on her senior night, Feick posted seven scores, three assists, 10 draw controls and nine caused turnovers in two Bel Air wins last week to push the Bobcats to 10-5 on the year.
Baseball
Bryce Bauer, Havre de Grace
Bauer played the hero role last week with his walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat C. Milton Wright, 8-7, which capped off a 5-for-12 week at the plate. He also tossed six innings and collected 10 strikeouts on the mound.
Softball
Izzy Hiebler, Patterson Mill
The senior catcher went 5-for-8 at the plate last week with a 1.325 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. She anchors the Huskies, who didn’t lose in April, on offense and behind the plate.
Boys track and field
Khory Reevey, Harford Tech
Reevey won the 110-meter hurdles at Saturday’s Gator Invitational hosted by Reservoir. He ran a personal-best 14.26 seconds. He also took second in the 300 hurdles in another personal record, 38.41 seconds.
Girls track and field
Jordyn Robinson, Patterson Mill
At a tri-meet against Perryville and C. Milton Wright, Robinson won the 100 (12.84 seconds) and the long jump (14-5). She also took second in the 200 (27.44).
Tennis
Emma Clayton, North Harford
Clayton has been a standout No. 1 girls singles player for the Hawks this season, compiling a 10-1 and a division championship.
Last week’s results
The Aegis selected seven athletes to represent each spring sport as its player of the week for April 21-27. A public vote was then held to determine which of the seven would be the overall Harford County Player of the Week.
Fallston’s Ian Swartzendruber beat out John Carroll girls lacrosse’s Pieper McCue with 53.1% of the vote. McCue finished with 25%.
Swartzendruber was originally selected for the week in which he scored eight goals in three games, all Fallston victories, to push the Cougars to 10-1 on the season.
