An Amazon delivery driver helped to rescue an 84-year-old woman from a Wednesday morning house fire in Harford County’s Street area, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
No one was hurt in the fire, which was sparked by discarded wood stove ashes on the front porch, according to the notice of investigation.
An Amazon delivery driver called 911 after seeing the fire, and also helped pull the woman out through a sliding-glass door, according to the state fire marshal. A dog and two cats were also able to escape the fire.
The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to the house, on Creek View Court, a cul-de-sac off of Deer Hill Road.
The woman was home alone in the basement, heard her dog barking and saw smoke through the window, the fire marshal’s office said.
Thirty-five firefighters spent about 20 minutes working to control the fire, which was first reported at 11:13 a.m. Three adults were displaced.
