A Bel Air man and repeat offender is set to serve 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and gun charges on Tuesday.
Kelyn Salvatore, 38, was originally arrested Jan. 29, 2025, after Harford County detectives found about $1,580 worth of crack cocaine on his person and seven guns and related paraphernalia at his Tollgate Road-area home, according to charging documents.
On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 30 years with all but 12 years suspended. The first five years are without the possibility of parole. The state had recommended a sentence of five to 12 years for the case.
Salvatore’s attorney, Kurt Nachtman, declined to comment on the sentence.
Giving Salvatore the maximum recommended sentence for the case “sends the strong message that if you are dealing drugs in Harford County you will be caught, prosecuted, and incarcerated to the fullest extent of the law,” said Harford County State’s Attorney Alison Healey. “The members of the Harford County Narcotics Task Force work tirelessly with our prosecutors to remove drugs, firearms, and criminals like Mr. Salvatore from the community.”
During the Harford County Sheriff’s Office’s search of Salvatore’s home on Mayton Court, police found seven guns and rifles, including a Polymer “ghost gun” and a Glock handgun stolen out of Anne Arundel County.
Salvatore was banned from having guns after being convicted of drug trafficking in 2022, second-degree assault in 2009 and first-degree burglary in 2010, according to the original statement of charges.
Police also found various ammunition and magazines, a body armor vest, drug paraphernalia and cash that indicated Salvatore intended to distribute drugs, according to the statement of charges.
