Much of Harford County shuts down during the holiday season, but if holiday food has gotten a bit boring for you, or if you just don’t feel like cooking, here are a few local restaurants serving nontraditional holiday options on Christmas Day.

Breakfast: Sunny Day Café

Sunny Day Cafe is a staple in the Harford community, sitting at 101 S. Main St. in Bel Air. In 2016, the well-known breakfast spot was named Bel Air’s Business of the Year. For the past two years, Sunny Day was named Harford Magazine’s best breakfast/brunch spot.

The cafe will open on Christmas Day at 7 a.m. and will conclude seating at 11:30 a.m. The restaurant does not require reservations.

Asian: Chopstix

Chopstix, voted Harford Magazine’s Best Asian Restaurant in 2017, will be open during its regular hours on Christmas, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The restaurant will only be taking carryout orders. Dine in options will not be available.

The menu features popular items like California rolls, lo mein and shrimp egg rolls. Patrons can also enjoy edamame, sweet and sour chicken, beef with broccoli and more.

Italian: Venetian Eatery

The Venetian Eatery offers a wide range of options for those looking for a spread on Christmas Day. They have everything from pasta and seafood to wings, onion rings, lamb chops, empanadas and more.

The eatery will be open during its normal hours, 9 a.m. to 3 a.m., on Christmas. Diners can grab a seat inside, carry out, or order delivery through services like DoorDash and Uber Eats.

Entertainment: Horizon Movies

For families looking for some movie theater snacks, Horizon Cinemas locations in Fallston or Aberdeen will be open.

Showtimes vary from early morning to late night, with the latest movie at 9 p.m.

On Christmas Day, Horizon will feature movies like “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” “Wicked: For Good,” “Zootopia 2,” “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” “The Housemaid” and more.
