Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman will be moving her branch office from Cecil County to Harford County next year, her office announced in a news release this week.
The office will be relocating from Elkton to the former M&T Bank, a 2,650 sq-ft building on Emmorton Road in Bel Air, in early or mid-February.
“Relocating to Harford County will allow us to meet more taxpayers where they are, reducing the time and distance they must travel to get to us,” Lierman said in the release.
Lierman is the state’s elected chief financial officer. She is responsible for overseeing money entering and leaving the state, collecting taxes, processing payroll for state employees, and serving on the Board of Public Works, among other duties.
Marylanders can go to the comptroller’s office to receive help with items related to filing or submitting tax returns.
The last day for Marylanders to receive in-person branch office services at the Elkton location will be Dec. 31. Branch office employees, however, will be available to work with residents virtually by appointment, as the agency will be expanding its virtual appointment offerings.
“Our commitment to customer service is unrelenting,” said Ana Garay, director of the Taxpayer Services Division, in a news release. “Whether someone reaches us in-person, online or by phone, the Taxpayer Service Division aims to provide timely, accurate and quality support to taxpayers across Maryland and beyond.”
There are tax services offices around the state, including Baltimore City and Baltimore, Frederick, Prince George’s, Montgomery, Allegany and Wicomico counties. The agency expects to also relocate its offices in Frederick and Montgomery counties next year, according to the news release.
