A jury trial is underway for a Fallston man accused of pointing a gun at another driver on Interstate 95 in Howard County during evening rush hour on March 18.
Christopher Mahns, 51, was stopped by police on Route 152 near Harford Road on May 7 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Mahns had two guns in his gray 2024 GMC Sierra pickup truck — a loaded 9 mm handgun and a loaded semiautomatic Glock .45.
Detectives were able to track down Mahns by subpoenaing his E-ZPass, and following his truck up I-95 based on footage provided by the victim, who had a company-issued dashboard camera, according to the statement of charges.
Mahns told police he has a permit to carry guns in Maryland, according to the statement of charges. He also told police that during the I-95 incident near Route 175, the victim spat on his son, who was sitting in Mahns’ passenger seat, when both drivers had the windows open.
Howard County Circuit Court Judge Mary Kramer set a $5,000 bond for Mahns after he was charged with first-degree assault and gun violations.
Mahns’ attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
