Each week throughout the winter season, The Aegis will select boys and girls basketball players of the week, factoring in individual statistics and accomplishments as well as team success. The public will then have the opportunity to vote which of the finalists will earn the honor of the overall Harford County Basketball Player of the Week.

Voting will run through the end of the day on Wednesday, readers can vote once per hour, and the final results will be published Friday.

Last week’s winner was North Harford’s Jason Brady, who gathered 55% of the reader vote. Havre de Grace’s Audrey Stacy finished second with 22%, and Fallston’s Maura Lawall came in third with 19% of the vote. Brady was originally nominated after posting a pair of double-doubles from Feb. 2 to Feb. 6, logging 21 points and 15 rebounds in a win over Harford Christian and adding 21 points and 10 rebounds in a two-point loss to Edgewood, which the Hawks lost to by 30 in their first meeting.

Here are the Harford County high school basketball players of the week from Feb. 9-13.

Girls basketball

Jael Erickson, Edgewood

Erickson eclipsed 1,000 career points last week, becoming the second Rams player to do so this year after Sam Donovan did so in January. Edgewood is now ranked No. 12 in The Baltimore Sun’s top 15 poll.

Rylie Madsen, Patterson Mill

Madsen also surpassed the 1,000 career point benchmark last week as she led the Huskies to three lopsided victories to push them to 17-2 on the season.

Carson Price, Bel Air

Price averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds across three games last week and led the Bobcats to two victories for four wins in their last five contests.

Boys basketball

Shawn Lauderdale, C. Milton Wright

Lauderdale averaged 24 points per game and led the Mustangs to a perfect 3-0 week to extend their winning streak to six games.

Mateo Hiett, Harford Tech

Hiett led the Cobras to a 2-1 week, averaging 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals per game, highlighted by a 22-point, nine-rebound effort in the team’s only loss of the week to Cecil County’s Perryville.

Aiden Robinson, Fallston

Robinson’s Cougars went 3-0 last week, and he was a big reason why. The senior forward averaged 16 points and nearly 12 rebounds while shooting 56% from the field.
