This summer, Havre de Grace residents will elect three members to the city council.
Qualified candidates can file election paperwork from March 3 to March 17 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., each day, according to the city’s website. There is a $50 filing fee.
The Havre de Grace City Council consists of six members who are elected at large. Each council member serves a two-year term. Half of the council goes through the election process each year.
The seats of council members Casi Boyer, Tammy Lynn Schneegas and Council President Jim Ringsaker will be up for election this year.
Last year, council members Johnny Boker and Vicki Jones both ran for reelection and retained their seats. Former council member Jason Robertson chose not to run, leaving his seat vacant. Matthew Ellis won the third seat, starting his first term on the council.
Boyer has served on the council since 2017 after she was appointed to complete the term of former council member Steve Gamatoria, who resigned to become the mayor’s chief of staff. Schneegas is finishing her second term, while Ringsaker has served four terms. He’s been council president since 2022.
The city’s election will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 5 at the STAR Centre.
